John Pellegrini was raised in Barre Vermont and grew up in the woods and waters of this state. When he wasn’t competing in the three major sports, John and his dad Dino spent every weekend hunting, fishing, and mushrooming while spending weekends at his hunting camp in South Woodbury, Vermont. John shot his first deer hunting from camp, in 1970, and fell in love with deer hunting.
The father son team spent many hours trolling central Vermont’s ponds, but always enjoyed trolling the surface of Peacham Pond for brown trout. John’s uncle Carl often ran into them, and Carl was always sharing the secrets of the pond.
Carrying-on the tradition, John has passed his hunting interests onto his son Brian. They now own a hunting camp on the Notch Trail in Orange, and ride 4-wheelers all summer long. They enjoy the two weeks of hunting seasons at camp.
John lives in Orange with his wife of 30 years, Becky. Although Becky herself has no interest in hunting, she supports John in what he loves. She is known to say “at last” when John comes home from his last weekend at Hunting Camp.
